Golf News, Source, NEW YORK -- Donald Trump is ready to take on another project: Beating two of the LPGA's best on the golf course.

Donald Trump will team with eight-time major champion Tom Watson to face world No. 1 Annika Sorenstam and rising star Natalie Gulbis in a skins game on Oct. 22 at a course on Governors Island designed specifically for the event.

"I am very much looking forward to competing with Tom against two of my very good friends," Trump said in a statement. "I love New York City and I love golf and this opportunity to play in such a wonderful event in my home town was one that I simply could not pass up."

The event is part of the Manhattan Golf Classic, which runs from Oct. 19-22 and features pro golfers and celebrities. Hank Haney, Tiger Woods' coach, will conduct private clinics over the weekend.

It's not the first time that Trump has been in the spotlight on the fairways. He has been a headliner for years at the AT&T Pro-AM at Pebble Beach as well as the celebrity-only American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe where he recently spent three days out on the links with Ben Roethlisberger, Paul O'Neill, Bode Miller, Ray Allen, and Jerry Rice.

The Manhattan Golf Classic, though, takes Trump's competitive play to a whole new dimension. Trump touts a five-handicap, and he and Watson figure to be a formidable pairing to go against Sorenstam and Gulbis.

Trump is friends with both opponents. Sorenstam and Gulbis both played in an LPGA event at Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles last year.

Proceeds from the match will go to Toys for Hospitalized Children and the Academy for Sports Marketing in Harlem.
