Golf News, Source,
Tiger Woods went out early Friday in the second round of the British Open and surged into the lead. His round of 65 included a hole-out eagle on the par-4 14th from 209 yards out. Hours later, Ernie Els wrapped up his afternoon round by matching Woods' 65.
Woods and Els are paired together for Saturday's third round, Tiger leading the tournament at 12-under and Els one shot back at 11-under. Here's how the top of the leaderboard looks after two rounds:
Tiger Woods, -12 (132)
Ernie Els, -11 (133)
Chris DiMarco, -9 (135)
Retief Goosen, -8 (136)
Miguel Angel Jimenez, -7 (137)
Adam Scott, -7 (137)
Mikko Ilonen, -7 (137)
Phil Mickelson struggled with his driver throughout the second round but at least held on for a level-par outing. He's at 4-under for the tournament. Don't count him out - he'll be teeing off well before Woods and Els, and with bad weather possible in the afternoon Saturday at Royal Liverpool, Mickelson might be able to pick up ground ... but only if he fixes his driving woes.
