HONMA Golf Co. Ltd. JAPAN-has released the 4th generation BERES 7-Series, MG700. The MG700 consists of a two-piece structure of SUS630 body, ES230 convex forged-variable-thickness-face. By forging the face it provides a mild feel at impact, thus reducing the harshness felt from most stainless steel irons.

Each iron has a strategic weight distribution system. Adding tungsten nickel weights to the toe and heel boost the highest moment of inertia of any Honma iron ever produced. The MG700 design adds power to the sides to enhance carry and cuts down loss of distance during off-center hits. In addition, a carry-boosting design change, 7 grams to the toe and 5 grams to the heel were added from the #4~#8 iron to provide forgiveness and power. The #9~SW irons feature 5 grams evenly distributed on the perimeter for maneuverability due to shorter gravity point distance. The MG700 conforms to the 2010 USGA new groove rule.

The standard production MG700 is a 2-Star grade (MSRP $345/club) up to the ultra-elaborate 5-Star grade (MSRP $4,395.00/club) featuring Pt1000 Platinum, 24k gold plating, medallions, hosel rings and ion plated shaft. The MG700 features the HONMA New ARMRQ UD49 graphite shaft for amateur players with average head speed. The MG700 can be ordered with the New ARMRQ UD45, UD54, UD62, UD70 and UD75 shafts by made to order only. The MG700 is available as a 10pc set (No.4-10, 11, AW, SW) or can be broken into a partial set as per the customer's preference.

Nation's best modern, classic and state-by-state course rankings among items featured

ORLANDO, Fla., (March 11, 2010) - Golfweek magazine, the publication preferred by serious golfers, has just released its highly anticipated 2010 Best Courses issue, which is devoted to honoring the nation's greatest layouts. The March 12 issue features Golfweek's Best Classic and Modern Courses lists ¬- marking the fourteenth year the magazine has ranked golf courses from each era - as well as a state-by-state listing of the country's best public-access courses.

Sand Hills Golf Club (Mullen, Neb.), Pacific Dunes (Bandon, Ore.) and the Straits Course at Whistling Straits (Mosel, Wis.) continue to lead the Modern list, remaining unchanged from last year. This year's Classic list, however, saw Pine Valley Golf Club (Pine Valley, N.J.) edging out Cypress Point Club (Pebble Beach, Calif.) for the top spot, while Shinnecock Hills Golf Club (Southampton, N.Y.) held onto its No. 3 ranking.

"This year, we note the considerable presence of high-quality courses that are accessible to everyday golfers, whether as resorts or daily-fee layouts," said Bradley S. Klein, national director of Golfweek's Best Courses rating program. "All told, eight of the top 100 Classic courses are public access, including three U.S. Open sites: Pebble Beach (No. 8), Pinehurst No. 2 (No. 15) and Bethpage State Park (Black-No. 19). On the Modern list, there are 30 public access layouts, led by Pacific Dunes (No. 2), Whistling Straits (No. 3) and Bandon Dunes (No. 4). That's very strong evidence that public golf in the U.S. enjoys a strong architectural identity."

In addition to these popular standouts, the 2010 Modern list features five new layouts, making it the smallest rookie class in the ranking's 14-year history. And on the Classic list, Palmetto Club (Aiken, S.C.) represents the only newcomer, breaking onto the list at No. 97.

The Golfweek's Best Courses program annually identifies the best courses from two distinctly different eras: pre- and post-1960. The exclusive system acknowledges that prior to 1960 - the year that separates Classic from Modern - most course designers relied on native contours for course features. After 1960, as the game became more popular, designers began to utilize high-tech engineering and advanced mechanical means to transform the landscape to suit their design.

Far Hills, N.J. (Feb. 26) - Starting March 1, entry applications for the 2010 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach (Calif.) Golf Links, the U.S. Women's Open at Oakmont (Pa.) Country Club and the U.S. Senior Open at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash., will be available online.

In the ensuing weeks, entry applications for the 10 amateur competitions conducted by the USGA, including the U.S. Amateur and U.S. Women's Amateur, will also be available online.

Visit http://www.usga.org/uploadedFiles/USGAHome/championships/competitions2010.pdf
for a complete listing of 2010 USGA championships.

According to figures from the USGA championship administration department, 91 percent of all applications received in 2009 were filed online. Those numbers have been consistent over the past several years, and the USGA strongly encourages all applicants to file electronically.

If assistance is needed during the entry process, visit the Championship FAQ section of the USGA Web site at: http://www.usga.org/championships/faq/Championships-FAQs/.

In 2010, a Condition of Competition is in effect regarding the new grooves rule adopted by the USGA for the three Open championships. At the U.S. Women's Open and the U.S. Senior Open the condition will be in effect at all qualifying sites as well as the championship proper. At the U.S. Open, the condition will not be in effect at Local (first stage) Qualifying but it will be in effect at all Sectional (second stage) Qualifying sites as well as the championship proper. The condition will not be in effect for any stage of USGA amateur championships in 2010.

The USGA has created an online reference resource called the Informational Club Database (http://www.usga.org/InfoClubsDB/Intro.html) to assist players in determining whether their irons, hybrids and fairway woods comply with the new grooves rule.

About the USGA
The USGA is the national governing body of golf in the USA and Mexico. The USGA annually conducts the U.S. Open, U.S. Women's Open, U.S. Senior Open and 10 national amateur championships.
